THREE young martial artists from Wickham’s Martial Arts Centre in Echuca headed to Launceston on July 23 to compete in the AFBJJ Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tasmanian State Championships.

Mason Golding, Jayda Golding and Mitchell Wickham all performed well, with Mason and Jayda winning their rounds and coming away with gold medals and also state titles in their divisions.

Wickham was placed in a higher division for this event and performed extremely well, coming away with wfour silver medals across four divisions.

He battled it out against a much heavier opponent and scored many points along the way.

Jayda won her match-up by submission (arm bar) in under 30 seconds and Mason had a tough round that went the distance, eventually winning in points (8-2).

All three should be incredibly proud of their achievements and have shown hard work pays off through their results.
