Fletcher Harris might be young, but he certainly has showed no fear early in his go kart racing career.
The 12-year-old again produced in the Cadet 12 Class of the National Championships, finishing second in the five-round event.
And as a Cadet 12 karter of the year winner, the speedster is following in some pretty famous footsteps; V8 Supercars legend Jamie Whincup as well as Tony D’Alberto and Cam Waters all previous winners of the award.
Harris took out this year’s City of Melbourne race, one of the biggest karting events going around and what he called his favourite win to date.
The year also had a feeling of ‘what could have been’ for Harris; engine troubles and some difficulty on the track costing him a red-hot crack at winning the national title.
Now four seasons into his karting career, Harris will step up into the junior national lites class, where he will drive a more powerful kart and hit even higher speeds.
But considering the way he’s taken to every class so far, you get the Harris will be flying high again in 2018.

Simon Buckley cemented his legacy as an Echuca footballing icon this season, with his second consecutive Morrison Medal.
It also booked him a spot in the Goulburn Valley League hall of fame, a fitting place for him after five dominant seasons with the Murray Bombers.
In an otherwise underwhelming season for Echuca, Buckley excelled in practically every game.
Of 18 games, he only missed the top-two of the club’s bests twice, and took home a fourth club
best and fairest from five season.
The only year he didn’t win the best and fairest? His Morrison Medal year in 2016.
After 47 games in the AFL system with Melbourne and Collingwood, Buckley has helped lift Echuca from the depths of the Goulburn Valley League, and will be integral to the club returning to finals action in 2017.
He was one of the first Murray Bombers to recommit to the club for next season, adding another year on top of that in a show of loyalty to the football club.
