Paige Pinson has starred in recent years for the Moama-Echuca Border Raiders, but will be putting her talents on show for a new club in the coming months.
The young defender recently made the under 19 squad for Australia’s most successful football club – South Melbourne.
Consecutive best and fairest awards for the Border Raiders seem like just the beginning for the teenager as she moves on towards bigger things.
Her now former coach Darryl Brown called Pinson arguably the best player the club has had in recent years, a massive compliment considering some of the club’s recent talents.
She joins another Echuca superstar in Alex Cheal at the club, the other former Border Raider now the captain of SMFC’s senior women’s side.
Echuca’s shooters are so good sometimes it is hard to know who the pick of the bunch is.
Casey Fletcher made his case for that title in November as Echuca again hosted the Victorian Trap Shooting Championships.
The single barrel event went right down to the wire, Fletcher pipped at the post by Gary Kelly, still finishing second in an extremely impressive performance.
And on the second day of the championship, he was the overall point score winner.
Shooting the highest score meant qualification in the state shooting team for next year’s National Championships.
In fact, Fletcher became the first person to qualify for the team.
Fletcher’s overall performance was a key part of Echuca Gun Club winning the overall club championship at the event.
